About Canadian Wildlife

Our Story
Canadian Wildlife was founded in 1987 by Dr. Michael Thompson, a passionate wildlife biologist who spent decades studying the diverse fauna of Canada's vast wilderness. What began as a small research initiative in Ontario's Algonquin Provincial Park has grown into one of Canada's leading wildlife education and conservation organizations.
In our early years, we focused primarily on research, collecting vital data on bear migration patterns and beaver habitat construction. By the mid-1990s, we expanded our mission to include educational tours, believing that firsthand experience with wildlife in their natural habitats would foster greater public appreciation and support for conservation efforts.
The turning point for our organization came in 2003 when we partnered with several Canadian universities and government agencies to develop comprehensive conservation strategies for threatened species. This collaboration led to the establishment of our current headquarters in Toronto, from which we coordinate our nationwide research, education, and conservation initiatives.
Today, Canadian Wildlife operates educational programs and wildlife tours across the country, from the coastal rainforests of British Columbia to the rugged shores of Newfoundland. Our team of dedicated biologists, naturalists, and educators continues to expand our understanding of Canada's remarkable wildlife while sharing this knowledge with thousands of visitors each year.

Meet Our Team
Canadian Wildlife is powered by a dedicated team of wildlife biologists, naturalists, educators, and conservation specialists. Each team member brings unique expertise and passion to our mission.

Dr. Alexandra Morgan
Executive Director & Wildlife Biologist
With over 25 years of experience studying Canada's large mammals, Dr. Morgan leads our organization with scientific rigor and boundless enthusiasm. Her groundbreaking research on grizzly bear social behavior has been published in numerous scientific journals and has influenced conservation policies across North America.

Robert Blackwood
Head Naturalist & Tour Director
A former park ranger with an encyclopedic knowledge of Canadian wildlife, Robert oversees all our educational tours and wildlife experiences. His engaging storytelling and deep respect for nature have made him a favorite among visitors of all ages. Robert has personally trained dozens of guides in ethical wildlife observation techniques.

Dr. Nadia Chaudhry
Research Director
Specializing in habitat conservation and ecosystem analysis, Dr. Chaudhry leads our research initiatives across Canada. Her innovative approach to studying wildlife corridors has helped protect crucial migration routes for numerous species. She works closely with government agencies to translate research findings into effective conservation policies.

James Running Bear

What People Say About Us

"As a wildlife biology professor, I've collaborated with many conservation organizations, but Canadian Wildlife stands apart for their scientific rigor and educational excellence. Their research methodologies are exemplary, and they excel at translating complex ecological concepts into engaging public education. They are invaluable partners in our university's field studies program."

"Our partnership with Canadian Wildlife has transformed how our provincial park approaches wildlife management and visitor education. Their expertise in developing wildlife viewing protocols has significantly reduced disruptive encounters while enhancing visitor experiences. Their team brings both scientific knowledge and practical field experience to every project. We're proud to have them as long-term conservation partners."

"Canadian Wildlife has demonstrated exceptional respect for Indigenous knowledge and perspectives in their conservation work. Unlike many organizations that merely consult with Indigenous communities, they have built genuine collaborative relationships that honor our traditional ecological knowledge. Their approach to wildlife research and education acknowledges the deep connection between our people and the land's creatures."
